Key Performance Metrics

Referral Volume

What it is: Number of businesses you refer per month

Why it matters: Higher volume (with quality) = more commission opportunities

Target: Depends on your business model (brokers: 5-20/month; payment partners: 20-100/month)

Approval Rate

What it is: Percentage of referrals that receive offers

Formula: (Approved referrals / Total referrals) × 100

Example:
- 20 referrals → 14 approved → 70% approval rate

Industry benchmark: 50-70%
Your goal: >60%

Improve it by:
- Pre-qualify better (use eligibility criteria)
- Provide complete, accurate information
- Focus on businesses with £15k+ monthly sales and 12+ months trading

Funding Rate (Conversion)

What it is: Percentage of approved businesses that accept offers and get funded

Formula: (Funded / Approved) × 100

Example:
- 14 approved → 10 funded → 71% funding rate

Industry benchmark: 60-80%
Your goal: >70%

Improve it by:
- Set clear expectations pre-referral ("Cost is higher than bank loans but faster and flexible")
- Follow up with businesses after they receive offers
- Ensure businesses are genuinely interested (not just "shopping around")

Average Advance Size

What it is: Average amount funded across your referrals

Example:
- 10 funded deals: £15k, £20k, £25k, £30k, £20k, £18k, £22k, £28k, £35k, £27k
- Total: £240k / 10 = £24k average

Why it matters: Larger advances = more commission (if percentage-based)

Optimize by:
- Refer larger businesses (£30k-50k+ monthly sales qualify for larger advances)
- Explain benefits of larger advances to customers (economies of scale, better rates)

Commission Earned

What it is: Total commission paid to you

Track:
- Monthly
- Quarterly
- YTD (year-to-date)
- All-time

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can we share our performance reports publicly (e.g., on our website)?
A: Your own metrics (number of deals, commission earned) are yours to share. Don't disclose SAPI's proprietary information (benchmark data, other partners' performance, SAPI's internal metrics).

Q: What if our approval rate is low (<40%)?
A: Contact [email protected] for a review. Common causes: Referring businesses below eligibility thresholds, incomplete information, targeting wrong industries. SAPI can provide guidance to improve.

Q: Do commission earnings affect our commission rate?
A: Some partnership agreements include volume tiers (earn more commission after hitting thresholds). Check your agreement or contact [email protected].

Q: Can we request custom reports (e.g., by industry, by funding amount)?
A: Yes. Email [email protected] with your requirements. Custom reports provided within 5-7 business days.
